I was talking to the wife about the Lincoln. At first she did wan't to hear about it but after a bit of convincing she finally gave me the go ahead to buy it if it checks out ok.
I sure hope this thing is as good as it looks. I haven't been this obsessed with a car in a long time. On a positive note the nearly 8 week old ad for the car finally expired and the seller is away on vacation so it looks like I might not have any competition when the seller gets back next week.

Woohoo! I've never owned a 70's Lincoln but I've driven a few so let me know if you want any info about what to look for on these cars.
Firstly, when you look at the car, check the hide-away lamps. They're a vacuum system and when the system leaks they work themselves open over night. When the car shuts off, the door should stay closed for quite a while.

I want you to buy that and just cruise all over your town and OWN THE ROAD. Because you will!!! And it'll be glorious! That's a fantastic car. Oh, and you should probably get a Fedora or some other cool driving hat.

I've wanted one for a while, basically ever since I discovered that depreciation on them put them in the same price bracket as bulk jerky from Costco.

this example? $1500.00 that's less than $0.30 cents a pound.

good to know. When I go check it out I'm mostly gonna check the frame for rust and if it runs and drives I'm planning on picking it up. I can work out the kinks as I go.

At the size this thing is I would need a captain's hat.
your more like a captain of a ship than you are a driver.

DO IT
Also, simplify (if possible) and add lightness!
In other words...
Strip it, cage it, add a 5.8 GT500 motor with a VMP SC kit, put 305's on stock size rims all around, and create the ultimate sleeper!

even if I fully stripped it it would still weigh over 4800 lbs. Shes a porker that's for sure.
A GT500 motor swap would be too much work. If I was to go the crazy route I'd do a boosted 460CI I'd be at over 700 ponies on just a few pounds of boost. and it would cost me a good 15k less than what you are suggesting.
I do however plan on putting the meatiest tires and widest wheels I can fit within the skirted fenders

I've actually seen a few in my area for that price, though most in that condition are closer to 2500. I hope it all works out, I'd love to hear what it's like to own one of these first hand.

If I do end up getting it you can expect a series of posts on it.

Just saw the written by tab. My suggestion is basically that yellow car's ride height.
